Background:
1981/82 base bike bought from a collector, who had it standing. Bike had been partly modified (Cowley conversion and some other hacks).
Since taking ownership:
Frame and seat assembly rebuilt to original; imported and fitted original seat, original air filter tray, etc. Full motor overhaul, new gasket kit, bottom end rebuild, etc (less than 300 k's on the refurbished motor); full carburetor rebuild using Kawasaki stock kit (imported). Exhaust headers engineered locally to spec and Cowley system replaced with new headers and hand-made canisters (Retro and Supermod) back to original 6 into 2. Upgraded front braking with new 4-pot calipers and braided lines. Upgraded rear suspension from original to modern Bitubo dual. Upgraded original front suspension with custom Hyperpro
springs. Acid washed fuel tank, followed by full professional respray to Kawasaki "Starlight Blue"with gold pinstriping. (Paint codes don't exist, so the re-spray was done to swatches until it matched.) Side cover decals (not in picture) are new, matched to OEM. Instrument cluster left original, but glass replaced because 40-year old glass is very weak. Lots of work done on fuelling (details can be discussed with Retro and Supermod) and the intention was to install a free-flow petcock, which can still be done at the new owner's leisure.
